From Smart Mines to Smart Farms: Digital Infrastructure Powering Zambia's Industries

When CAMINEX 2025 kicked off at the Kitwe Showgrounds in late May, it drew thousands of manufacturers, suppliers, buyers, and end-users from Zambia’s mining, agriculture, and industrial sectors. This annual expo serves as a key platform for networking, building strategic partnerships, and engaging with industry leaders and technical experts. But beyond the event’s immediate impact, CAMINEX plays a broader, long-term role in emphasizing the growing importance of connectivity and digital solutions in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth across multiple sectors.

With Zambia’s population now exceeding 20 million and an internet penetration rate of 31.2%, which is equivalent to around 6.5 million internet users, expanding digital infrastructure and ensuring reliable connectivity is critical to unlocking the country’s digital transformation and enabling inclusive economic development.
